It all began one Saturday morning in 2025, when John H. Spangler and B.C. Clark crossed paths on a live-streaming platform. Clark had entered Spanglers Creations, a space where Spangler showcases his custom artwork with a request for custom trading cards featuring her beloved pets.
The two began chatting, the conversation flowed, and ideas started bouncing back and forth. After a few too many jokes about their own pets’ antics, the idea for a comic series, Pets Behind Closed Doors was born.
The idea stuck with Spangler and Clark, and after several chats and brainstorming sessions, they realized this wasn’t just a passing idea – it was something they had to make happen. So, they decided to turn the concept into a full-fledged comic series, one that captured the darkly humorous world of pets when their owners aren’t around. But they realized they weren’t just creating a comic – they were creating a window into the hilarious, unpredictable world that exists behind closed doors. A world where dogs plot mischievous adventures, cats wreak havoc, and fish... well, maybe they're planning a revolution. The series blends dark humor with lighthearted fun, offering readers a chance to laugh, cringe, and see pets in a new (and sometimes slightly devious) light.
But the story doesn’t stop there. Pets Behind Closed Doors isn't just about the characters we create—it’s about the characters you bring to life. We wanted to make the series interactive, so we opened it up to our audience. Fans could submit their own pets to be featured in upcoming issues, making every pet, big or small, part of the adventure.
What started as a simple request for trading cards turned into a full-fledged comic series that combines dark humor, wild imaginations, and the love of pets. And now, here we are, inviting you to join us as we explore the mischief our furry (and not-so-furry) friends get into when the door closes. John T. Spangler
Co-Creator and Illustrator
John T. Spangler is an author, versatile artist, and owner of Spanglers Creations based in Ocala, Florida, known for his creative storytelling and dynamic artwork. He is the creator and author of The Dreamcatcher and The Dreamcatcher and the Shadow's Secret, two captivating novels that weave adventure, imagination, and heart. With a Bachelor's degree in English from American Military University, John has a deep passion for both writing and art, allowing him to seamlessly bridge the worlds of storytelling and visual creativity.
As a skilled artist, John specializes in watercolor and comic book art, often drawing inspiration from his favorite pop culture icons — most notably the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). His artistic talents extend beyond paper, having designed logos for Blackwater Jiu Jitsu at Black Force MMA, Crosby's Pressure Washing Services in Summerville, SC, and DJ Grizz in Bahrain.
In addition to his work on canvas and paper, John enjoys engaging with his audience through his popular "mash-up" nights on Whatnot, where he blends unexpected characters and concepts into fresh, imaginative designs.
When he's not immersed in writing or drawing, John cherishes spending time with his wife, two children, and three dogs, who continue to inspire his work and fuel his creativity. Whether he's crafting the next chapter of an exciting story or bringing a sketch to life, John H. Spangler remains dedicated to sharing his passion for art and storytelling with the world.

B.C. Clark is a creative and logical thinker based in Virginia where she lives with her supportive spouse, two dogs, and two cats. Most days, you can find her in front of a computer, either working on creative projects, gaming, or getting lost in the digital world.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University, but has recently delved into storytelling and creative expression in her spare time. Whether it's through writing or exploring new ideas, she enjoys finding meaning in the ordinary and bringing her ideas to life.
When she's not behind a screen, Clark can usually be found spending time with her family, caring for her pets, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. She's always drawn to interesting stories, complex characters, and the subtle beauty of everyday life.
